Frequently asked questions

How do I prepare a Baeho?

Toaster (recommended): place your frozen Baeho into the toaster on a setting of 2.5 (about 2 1/2 minutes). This should ensure that the Baeho’s exterior gets a golden color and crunchy texture, without being too toasty.

Traditional Oven/Toaster Oven: place frozen Baeho in a traditional oven or toaster oven for 4 minutes at about 400°F.

Air Fryer (Pizza Baehos): if you’d like to make a Pizza Baeho, we suggest experimenting with baking your frozen Baeho in an air fryer (with all the pizza ingredients already in the Baeho) for about 7-9 minutes at a temperature between 350°F - 400°F.

How do I store my Baehos?

After receiving, place your Baeho bags in the freezer to store. Return the bag back to the freezer after each use. Unlike most other bread products, a Baeho contains no preservatives – instead we freeze our product in order to keep it fresh!

What can I put in my Baeho?

You can really place anything you’d like into your Baeho! It works great for holding toppings traditionally put into a bagel or on a piece of toast, and also tastes fantastic when paired with sweeter recipes such as Ricotta & Berries, yogurt or even (yes...we know it sounds strange) – ice cream! Just think of it as a funky shaped cone!

Why are Baehos sold frozen?

Ever bought a loaf of bread or a pack of bagels and discovered them moldy or tasting stale before most of the pack was actually finished? Even when using additives and preservatives, traditional loaves and bagels tend to go off way before we’d like them to. Aside from the frustration, food products that become stale or moldy contribute to an added amount of unnecessary food waste.

With Baeho, we choose to freeze our product so that it always tastes fresh and never goes off, meaning we can provide better flavor with no food waste at all! Additionally, freezing our product completely eliminates the need for preservatives, so we are able to create a bread product without all those conventional nasties and additives. In our eyes, choosing frozen is a win-win!

What makes a Baeho different from a bagel or sourdough bread?

For starters (sourdough pun intended), we want to make it clear that we absolutely love bagels and sourdough bread! In making Baeho, we sought to create a product that can act like a bagel in the sense that it can hold the same variety of toppings, but that uses a recipe lower in calories, is free from sugars, preservatives and additives, and that's less messy to eat! Baehos share a similar circumference to bagels, but are less than half the calories, made without any preservatives, hold more toppings than traditional bagels, and even serve as your own plate when eaten on-the-go. In all, it’s less messy, super tasty and is a great, healthy choice for everyday consumption!

Are Baehos real sourdough?

Baehos are the real deal! We use our signature sourdough starter as the leavening agent in our dough. After kneading, we leave our dough to ferment for about 20 hours before baking in our ovens. The small amount of yeast found at the bottom of our ingredients list is actually nutritional yeast which has no leavening properties. We incorporated this yeast into our recipe solely for flavor and freshness purposes!

Do I have to cook my Baeho or can I just warm it up then eat it?

We recommend toasting all frozen Baehos prior to consumption. During the baking process, Baehos are par-baked so that the final minutes are done by your toaster at home! This style of par-baking allows them to keep that ‘freshly baked’ texture and taste so that each Baeho in your bag tastes just as good as the previous.

Will eating Baehos align with my health and fitness goals?

Baehos are a great way to enjoy some nutritious carbs while keeping relatively low calorie. But for any health-related questions, we recommend consulting a registered dietitian or visiting your doctor for more information.
